Rugged gorges, high mountains and dramatic landscapes stretching from the Orange River deep inland confirm the fact that you are now in the endless mountain desert, the Ai-Ais Richtersveld Border Park.
There are camps in the wilderness with mountain huts, Tattasberg and Gannakourib (well equipped).
Campsites are at Pootjiespram De Hoop, Kokerboomkloof and Sendelingsdrif at the park’s entrance point.
Tourists must provide their own water, food, tents and other outdoor equipment. Only tents are allowed, because the Richtersveld’s terrain is not suitable for caravans.
